Verizon Completes SAS 70 Type II Examinations of its Data Centers

Verizon announced that it has completed the annual SAS 70 Type II examinations of its data centers around the globe, which support the company’s colocation, managed hosting and application management services. Many of these offerings underpin Verizon’s everything-as-a-service,” or EaaS, cloud-based delivery model.

SAS 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard performed by a certified public accounting firm. It is conducted in accordance with the standards set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. These reports included the examination of specific areas such as: organizational structure, governance and administration; physical access to facilities; logical access to systems; network services; and operational processes and environmental safeguards. The results of these examinations demonstrate that Verizon has the controls and processes in place to manage and monitor its data centers and infrastructure for enterprises around the globe.

Verizon provides advanced, business-class IT and hosting services to enterprise clients spanning the globe,” said Kerry Bailey, group president – enterprise cloud strategy and services, Verizon. Given the nature of a SAS 70 Type II examination, we believe our successful completion further differentiates Verizon in the marketplace while providing tangible proof of our commitment to delivering unsurpassed value, performance and security.”

In addition, last month Verizon announced that it had successfully completed the second annual SAS 70 Type II examination of its cloud computing data centers and Computing as a Service (CaaS) offering.

Outsourcing IT responsibilities to Verizon enables enterprise clients to benefit from high availability and exceptional performance while controlling costs. All Verizon facilities are staffed with skilled engineers, advanced operations platform technology and standards-based processes to manage customers’ essential infrastructure and applications.
