The services will include network design, installation, integration, project management and construction.

The Alcatel-Lucent solutions are expected to improve operations and ensure worker safety at the liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing plant.

The advanced communication system will provide surveillance and secure access capabilities at the Gladstone facility, and support operational data and voice communications.

The GLNG Project will use innovative new technology to process coal seam natural gas (CSG) into LNG for export to global markets.

Alcatel-Lucent claims that the use of real-time video and data will allow workers at the GLNG Project to monitor operations in the LNG processing trains on a 24-hour basis. In addition, real-time data notification will ensure that teams are aware of any potential issues.

“Robust and reliable communications are an increasingly vital component of every business sector, especially in essential industries like energy production. Alcatel-Lucent has extensive global experience in delivering integrated systems to meet the needs of major strategic projects working in challenging environments and supporting advanced capabilities,” said Sean O’Halloran, president and managing director Alcatel-Lucent Australia.

A combination of optical fiber cabling, local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), plant UHF radio and VHF marine radio subsystems will deliver data and voice communications to support all operations and the workforce at the plant, including monitoring and control of operations at the LNG trains.
