Aruba unveils upgraded Instant to help enterprise manage increase in mobile devices

Aruba Networks announced enterprise-grade software and hardware enhancements to
the Aruba Instant family of products, designed to further optimize the solution
for enterprise branch offices and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs).

Aruba Instant features self-serve guest access enabled by Aruba’s Amigopod
solution. This helps ensure ease of access and security in wireless environments
to which employees and guests frequently bring their own mobile devices.

Instant also provides rogue access point detection, a requirement for PCI
compliance. Aruba also announced the addition of the 900Mbps IAP-134 and
IAP-135 access points, to help businesses cope with the increasing number of
devices on their networks and the high-bandwidth voice-and-video traffic they
carry.

Mimeo.com, a provider of online, on-demand document printing and distribution,
operates over 200,000 square feet of digital print capacity, across four
facilities. The company has deployed Aruba Instant as the primary means of
production network access in two of its manufacturing plants.

“The Aruba Instant family of products has allowed us to do what we do
best, rapidly utilize new technology to improve the many ways we support
employees and customers, at minimal cost,” said Mike Baker, Mimeo vice
president of managed information services.

Aruba Instant features the virtualization of Aruba Mobility Controller capabilities
on 802.11n access points (APs), creating an enterprise-grade wireless LAN
(WLAN) solution that performs better and is lower in total cost of ownership
than many consumer and small office/home office wireless solutions.

16 Aruba Instant APs can be managed as a single group, and multiple Instant
network groups are easily centrally managed with Aruba AirWave.

Aruba Instant can be deployed in minutes with minimal IT support and requires
no ongoing service fees, licensing fees or management appliances. The product
portfolio consists of five access points starting at US $395. These include the
Aruba IAP-92, IAP-93 and IAP-105, as well as the newly added IAP-134 and
IAP-135. The IAP-134 and IAP-135 feature 3X3 MIMO and operate at a maximum
throughput of 900Mbps.

“The Aruba Instant family of products is one of the fastest-ramping product
portfolios in our company’s history, and the reason for that is clear,” said
Ben Gibson, chief marketing officer for Aruba.
