Telecom Lead Asia: Ascom Wireless has grown its market share and is sharing the position as the world’s largest manufacturer of professional cordless phones together with Gigaset.
Ascom Wireless Solutions is increasing its share of the total global market for professional PBX connected cordless phones.
Ascom Wireless’ share of the market is now 17 percent, on par with the leader Gigaset, whose global market share dropped by 1 percent during the same period, according to UK analysts MZA.
In the first half of 2012, Ascom Wireless sold 186,000 professional cordless phones, up from 171,000 for the corresponding period in 2011. This implies that Ascom Wireless’ market share rose from 15 percent to 17 percent. The figures take into account the total number of manufactured units globally, including both Ascom branded products and OEM production.
The market for professional cordless phones is dominated by the DECT and VoWiFi, Voice over WiFi, technologies. Ascom Wireless Solutions can look back on a period of great success with increasing sales in both these technologies, particularly on the North American market.
In the DECT handset market, Ascom held 21 percent of the global market in the first six months of 2012.
In the VoWiFi market, Ascom Wireless Solutions market share rose to 17 percent, compared to 14 percent in the same period in 2011.
Ascom Wireless also completed on-site inspection by the Swedish Medical Products Agency, concluding that the company complies with the EU Medical Device Directive.
The Swedish Medical Products Agency has conducted a thorough on-site inspection at the company facilities in Gothenburg, Sweden. The inspection was closed with no further action from the agency, concluding that Ascom Wireless has all the right measures in place to comply with the EU Medical Device Directive and the CE-mark.
The inspection results confirm that Ascom Wireless is a pioneer in the integration of medical devices and distributed alarm systems.
”Both these achievements prove that we are well under way to extend and solidify our number one position in global healthcare communication,” said Claes Odman, general manager of Ascom Wireless Solutions.
Ascom Wireless Solutions claims that more than 75,000 systems are installed at major companies all over the world. The company offers a range of voice and professional messaging solutions, creating value for customers by supporting and optimizing their Mission-Critical processes.
