Cisco, Alcatel-Lucent, Juniper Networks, and Huawei lead Carrier Ethernet equipment market

By
Telecom Lead Team:
The Carrier Ethernet Equipment market in
North America will grow at a CAGR of 19.2 percent over the Period 2010-2014
because of increasing adoption of IP-based next-generation networks, according
to Research and Markets.

The report notes that Cisco Systems, Alcatel-Lucent,
Juniper Networks, and Huawei Technologies are leading the current market space.

IP-based network communication provides faster and reliable
data transfer over organizational networks. Service providers are adopting
carrier Ethernet equipment-based networking solutions that support
next-generation networks and reduce the operational costs of networking
infrastructure.

Research and Markets
report reveals that the Carrier Ethernet Equipment market in North America has
also been witnessing increasing adoption of Carrier Ethernet for mobile backhaul.

However, rapid evolution of technology is forcing the
end-users to delay equipment purchase and could pose a challenge to the growth
of this market.

Ethernet equipment is finding increased adoption in the
Mobile Backhaul market. With the expansion of communication networks, there is
a requirement for scaling backhaul infrastructure.

Ethernet equipment provides cost-efficient solutions
with higher bandwidth support. Further, Ethernet equipment networks provide
reliable and scalable infrastructure that can be easily managed by
communication service providers,” said an analyst from TechNavio’s Data Centers
team.

A few months back,  market
research firm Infonetics Research has forecasted that carrier Ethernet
equipment market will grow from $37.5 billion in 2011 to $40.2 billion by 2015.

Infonetics forecasted 15.7 percent growth in the global
carrier Ethernet equipment market in 2011 to reach $32.0 billion, following a
30.5 percent hike in 2010. The agency expects a 6 percent growth in service
provider investment in carrier Ethernet equipment, and says it will continue to
outpace overall telecom capex.
