Daawat Foods selects IBM for ERP implementation

IBM announced that Daawat Foods, a wholly owned subsidiary of LT Foods
and exporter of packaged rice foods, has selected IBM Power Systems and storage
over HP to run its business critical ERP implementation.

IBM Power Systems will provide enhanced
performance and compliment the company’s business growth goals of lowering
overall IT operating costs.

“IBM provided the best combination of price, performance and technology
leadership. IBM’s solution ensures that we can do more with less, by offering superior
performance, better energy efficiency and reduced software licensing costs,”
said Vikram Patil, IT head, Daawat Foods.

Daawat Foods recently installed the SAP ERP application to automate
their mission critical processes. The hardware needed to be robust, and
scalable to accommodate their future growth. IBM’s solution offered better
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) along with a comparatively lower power and
cooling requirements, when compared to that proposed by HP.

IBM‘s solution consisted of two IBM
Power 710 Express systems running the AIX operating system with the SAP ECC
production and non-production environment, as well as IBM System Storage DS3500
Express.

The Power 710 Express systems were fitted with four cores to enable the
system to scale with business growth planned over the next three years. The performance of the POWER7 processor makes it possible
for applications to run faster with fewer processors, resulting in lower per
core software licensing costs and fewer numbers of required servers, which
reduces infrastructure costs and saves space in the data center.

“Daawat is a perfect example of IBM’s
commitment to help organizations build scalable business infrastructure that
allows them to become more resilient and better positioned for growth.
This
win reaffirms the confidence that clients have on AiX and reiterates the value
that our POWER 7 systems bring to the table for our clients,” said Jyothi
Satyanathan, vice president, ibm.com, Mid Market Sales Organisation, IBM India
/South Asia.

Recently, IBM announced that FEDBANK Financial Services, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Federal Bank, one of India’s leading private sector banks
,
selected IBM Power systems to run its business critical loan origination
application.

FEDBANK has selected IBM Power Systems over Oracle and HP because of the
IBM platform’s ease of management, cost-effectiveness and price-performance
ratio.
