EMC names new country manager for Backup and Recovery Systems Division in India & SAARC

Telecom Lead India: EMC India has named Surajit Sen
as Country Manager of its Backup Recovery Systems (BRS) division in India &
SAARC.

 

Under this new responsibility, Surajit will manage
operations for the BRS unit and will work towards maximizing productivity,
growth and revenue course in India.

 

  The Indian sub-continent is a hugely important and
strategic market for EMC, both in terms of innovation and growth. Surajit’s
appointment will fortify our leadership in India and help us advance in the
backup and recovery segment there,” said Michael Alp, vice president, APJ
Backup and Recovery Systems Division, EMC.

 

The company said that the BRS unit is a key driver of
EMC’s growth in the region in 2012. According to IDC, EMC was leading 65.5
percent of the total $2.4 billion Purpose-Built Backup Appliance (PBBA)
solutions market.

 The company recently upgraded its product
portfolios though EMC Data Domain and EMC Avamar deduplication systems.

 

EMC leads NAS/unified storage market: Gartner

 

Recently, EMC captured the #1 revenue market share
position in the Network Attached Storage/Unified Storage Market.

 

According to Gartner’s report, EMC revenue attributable
to NAS/unified storage nearly doubled year-over-year to $2.8 billion, making it
the fastest-growing NAS/unified storage vendor.
