Global Femtocell Equipment Market to grow over the period 2010-2014

By
Telecom Lead Team:
The Global Femtocell Equipment market will
be growing at a CAGR of 81 percent over the period 2010-2014, due to increasing
demand for the better network coverage, according to Research and Markets.

The Global Femtocell Equipment market has also been
witnessing decreasing prices for Femtocell equipment. However, Femtocells are
not suitable for every market which could pose a challenge to the growth of
this market.

According to Research and Markets report,
with developments in Femtocell design and technology, advanced Femtocells are
being developed. These new Femtocells are small in size and consume less power
thus making them ideal for integration with numerous other devices.

Consumers in poor network coverage areas often
experience dropped calls and time-consuming downloads. There is therefore a
growing demand for better network coverage which provides improved voice and
video features apart from high-speed data services. Mobile network operators
have thus been promoting the adoption of Femtocells, driving this market,” said
an analyst from TechNavio’s Telecom team.

The study covers the Americas, and the EMEA and APAC
regions. The report aims to aid decision makers’ understanding of the key
trends impacting the growth of this market.

According to market research firm Infonetics, Airvana
achieved $25 million revenue in Q3 2011 and emerged as a market leader.

Global revenue from 2G and 3G femtocells used in
consumer, enterprise and public spaces grew 9 percent sequentially in the third
quarter of 2011, with 2G femtocell revenue declining and 3G femtocell revenue
ramping.
