How to tap 500 million users in Africa

The
TMT Finance and Investment Africa conference brings together the leading
players to focus on telecom investment and acquisition strategies.

This
year’s event takes place during an upturn in activity in mergers and
acquisitions of mobile tower
assets and investment into new infrastructure and services.

Telecom
operators across Africa including MTN, Bharti, Millicom and Vodafone have been
preparing sales of mobile tower portfolios, and new investment is being
directed into infrastructure, licences and services,” said Dominic Lowndes, managing
director of BroadGroup TMT Ventures, the event organiser.

It’s
no longer just about mobile voice; new investments are targeting terrestrial
fiber, data, triple play, 3G and 4G. Private equity interest in the region is
mushrooming, and global players, including France Telecom and Vivendi most
recently, are looking for acquisitions,” Lowndes added.

Participating companies include American Tower Corporation, Citigroup, Orascom,
Clifford Chance, Eaton Telecom, Emerging Capital Partners, Helios Towers
Africa, ING, Investec, JPMorgan, NCC, Rand Merchant Bank, Moelis, Mi-Fone,
Qtel, Nedbank Capital, SNR Denton, Standard Bank and the World Bank.

TMT Finance and Investment Africa takes place on June
17 at America Square in the City of London and will feature presentations from
industry leaders on the latest investment opportunities and strategies, topical
debate and high end networking for deal focused professionals. International
and regional media from print, TV and online, along with financial and industry
press and analysts will also be in attendance.
