Hub Telecom and Mitel unveil cloud-based unified communications at Paris Airports

Telecom Lead Europe: Mitel, a provider of Unified
Communications and Collaboration (UCC) software solutions, and Hub Telecom, a
subsidiary of Aeroports de Paris specializing in telecommunications services,
have launched cloud-based service based on the Mitel Communications Director
Solution and VMware virtualization solutions.

Hub Telecom’s cloud-based offering is being delivered at
Paris’ Charles-de-Gaulle and Orly airports. The service gives Hub Telecom’s
customers an in-office collaboration experience.

“Our new offering with Hub Telecom clearly
illustrates how UCC is moving from a hardware-based infrastructure model to
being managed as just another virtual machine, enabling IT to consolidate its resources
while simultaneously delivering advanced services to its customers,” said
Lionel Hovsepian, vice president of sales for South EMEA at Mitel.

Hub Telecom hosts the solution in its data center at
Roissy – Charles de Gaulle, and manages all aspects of the UCC offering and its
associated infrastructure and customer support.

The UCC offering provides a wide range of features for
users, including integrated access to their collaboration tools, including
voice, video, presence, secure instant messaging, audio and web conferencing,
document sharing, voice messaging and email.

“The Hub Telecom UC service’s use of virtualization
and UCC is very innovative, but its real value lies in the advanced features it
offers our end-user customers,” said Nicolas Lehovetzki, director of the
telecommunications Business Unit at Hub Telecom.

The company said that users also have access to “one
number dialing” which provides a single number where they can be reached
regardless if they’re at their desk or on the road.

Last year, VMware
and Mitel unveiled a significant technical advancement designed to considerably
increase the already growing deployment of desktop virtualization for IT
departments around the world.
