iControl Networks Partners with Swisscom

iControl Networks, a provider of broadband home management, announced
the company’s expansion into the European market through its partnership with
Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecoms provider.

Together, iControl and Swisscom will offer
new products and services for residential customers to help them stay connected
to their homes when away.  The first “Smart Living” solutions
will be launched to the Swiss market next year.

According to ABI Research, approximately 1.8 million home automation systems
were shipped globally in 2011, and that number will increase to more than 12
million shipments by 2016, largely due to the fact that service providers are
entering the managed home automation market.

“Swisscom is the ideal partner for us to introduce our solution to
the European market,” said Robert Hagerty, CEO of iControl.

Swisscom’s Smart Living solution will
allow consumers to control home appliances and other devices via smartphones or
the web. Security sensors and video, as well as appliances such as heaters,
lamps or coffee machines, are linked together in an intelligent network that
consumers can control from anywhere, at any time.

“We want to contribute to a safer, more environmentally-friendly
and more pleasant life for our customers with our new ‘Smart Living’
offering,” said Dieter Bernauer, CEO of Swisscom Participations.

In the future, there will be new applications introduced, such as tools
to help look after elderly relatives, or others in need of care, that provide
support for living longer, more independently and more comfortably in the home.
