The new lab uses Keysight’s 5G platform to verify the performance of new 5G new radio (NR) designs. OPPO’s engineers will use Keysight’s solutions to test their 5G multi-mode devices in different form factors.

OPPO showcased its 5G smartphone during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in Barcelona.

China-based OPPO ranked fourth in global smartphone sales in the final quarter of 2018, according to Gartner analysis, with sales of 31.6 million devices and a 7.7 percent share of the market.

“By setting up a joint 5G test lab with Keysight, we’re strengthening our ability to launch 5G devices for deployment in a wide range of 5G use cases,” said Donny Peng, assistant vice president of Software Product Engineering in OPPO.

Keysight in a statement said its 5G NR platform assists global smartphone manufacturing companies to accelerate development, validation and carrier acceptance.

The smartphone testing platform supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave frequencies for conducted and over-the-air (OTA) testing, said Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s wireless test group.

OPPO, one of the top 5 smartphone makers in the world, on Nov 29, 2018 used Keysight’s UXM-based 5G NR network emulation solutions to establish a 5G video call on OPPO’s commercially available mobile phone.
