MACH supports M2M-specialist operator MobiquiThings for data and financial clearing

MACH, a provider of hub-based mobile
communication solutions, announced that MobiquiThings, an M2M-specialist
operator, has selected the company to deliver a new data and financial
clearing and settlement proposition, which is tailored to the unique
Machine-to-Machine (M2M) environment.

MobiquiThings is the first pure M2M service
provider to sign up with MACH. MobiquiThings will leverage MACH’s unrivalled
experience in global clearing, settlement and payment management for its
innovative M2M services.

“Out of all the companies we spoke to, MACH
was the only provider who understood the unique requirements of the M2M space
and honed their services to suit our needs. With some M2M messages weighing
just 1Kb, or even less, and representing much smaller ARPS than is normal for
the mobile industry, MACH has ensured that we have the right, M2M-specific,
inter-operator tariff processes in place to effectively transact data across
the world and monetise our business,” said Cyril Hullin, chief executive
officer, MobiquiThings.

MobiquiThings would benefit from MACH’s
solution to optimize cash flow, reduce revenue leakage and a faster launch time
into new markets.  By outsourcing its data clearing and financial clearing
and settlement requirements to MACH, MobiquiThings will also benefit from huge
CAPEX savings and will free up internal resources to concentrate on its core
business.

According to Infonetics Research, the
global M2M market will be worth $3.8bn by 2015.  While still a relatively
new concept, the range of applications that M2M enables, including remote
monitoring of utilities, e-health patient monitoring and in-car infotainment
entertainment among others, means that it will see strong growth in the short
to medium term.

While this represents a great opportunity
for innovative players such as MobiquiThings, the nature of M2M communications
is completely different to that of the traditional mobile market and presents
unique challenges. Average Revenue Per SIM (ARPS) is much lower than with
traditional mobile telecommunications, while transaction volumes are much
higher, requiring a completely different approach to tackling data clearing and
settlement.

“The M2M market represents an
important new revenue stream for MACH and we are delighted to be able to
announce MobiquiThings as one of our first dedicated M2M customers. With the
explosion in smart devices across a range of industries, MobiquiThings stands
to share in a very lucrative revenue stream.  Their business can only work
on a global level, however, if the correct inter-operator tariffs are in place
and data and revenue is cleared and settled immediately and effectively.
We believe we are the only clearing house with the ability to do this
effectively for M2M communications today and we look forward to helping
MobiquiThings extend their business across the globe,” said Artur
Michalczyk, chief product officer, MACH.

MACH recently announced that MoneYou has
selected its
A2P messaging platform to offer second factor authentication via mobile (mTAN)
for its online banking customers in Germany.
