Telecom Lead Team: TE Connectivity has
entered into a second-source agreement under which Molex will have the rights
to manufacture, market and sell TE’s latest STRADA Whisper high-speed backplane
connector family.
“This
second-source agreement pairs the technology and manufacturing capabilities of
both companies to provide the data communications industry with an assured
supply of TE’s breakthrough STRADA Whisper products. It will also help to
ensure the market adoption of our expanded release coming in spring 2012,”
said Eric Snyder, director of business development, TE.
TE’s
STRADA Whisper connector offers data rate of up to 40 Gbps. This performance
upgrade is a result of the extremely low noise characteristics with less than 1
percent at 20 ps signal edge rate of the connector’s individually shielded
pairs.
The
low noise characteristics provide improved signal integrity and EMI performance
over competitive products.
The
STRADA Whisper product family will be available in traditional board-to-board,
orthogonal and cabled configurations in both 100 and 85 Ohm impedance
configurations. The product suits high-speed applications such as
servers, switches, routers, storage, base stations, optical transport, etc.
Recently, TE Connectivity announced that it will exhibit its STRADA Whisper
connector along with its data communication products at DesignCon 2012 at
California, USA.
