The Times of India and Nokia have announced the launch of The Times of India App on the Ovi Store. India’s largest read Indian mainline newspaper will now be available to readers in India and across the globe on their Nokia devices, while on the move.
Available for free download from the Ovi Store, the TOI App covers all requirements of avid news readers across ages and geographies. The application will serve as a one-stop access and will allow users to catch up with the latest coverage of national and international news, business, politics, city, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, health, science and technology.
Rishi Khiani, CEO, Times Internet said, “We are excited to launch The Times of India app for Nokia smartphones. This partnership is an important and strategic one for us as both brands lead their respective segments globally with India being a significant contributor to their overall businesses. With this app millions of Nokia owners across the globe will be able to access news on the move, updated on the hour, with The Times of India”.
The TOI application supports both portrait and landscape orientations and also advanced gestures such as scroll and swipe. The app allows users to change the font-size on the fly for easy reading or share it via Facebook, Twitter, sms or email. To make it easier to follow the top updates, the high utility, auto update widget feature enables the app to sense when it needs to be updated, and does so, without the intervention of the user.
Viral Oza, director Marketing, Nokia India, said, Mobile users everywhere are consuming more and more content daily from their mobile devices. Our partnership with Times of India is a big step towards providing readers easy and simplified access to news from their mobile device.”
The Times of India app for Ovi Store has been created by MobiMonster, a Delhi-based developer firm and part of the Nokia developer ecosystem. A long-term and key partner for Nokia in India, MobiMonster specializes in developing consumer centric apps for the Ovi Store across Nokia’s platforms and devices.
