Polycom assists China’s MOST to streamline operations

Polycom announced that China’s Ministry of Science and
Technology (MOST) recently deployed Polycom’s UC video solutions, including the
Polycom RealPresence Platform, to speed development of its large-scale projects
and conferences.

MOST is likely to utilize the Polycom platform for the
management reform, evaluation and review of MOST’s 175 strategic 2011/2012
research projects and initiatives.

PolycomHigh-Definition (HD) video and telepresence systems are rapidly becoming a
cost-effective solution for government departments of all sizes to accelerate
the delivery of large-scale administrative projects.

MOST’s video network consists of 10 meeting rooms for
experts and single system control rooms in Beijing, as well as 25 video meeting
rooms distributed in 20 provinces across the country, providing an immersive
experience for 175 multi-media conferences. At the same time, to enable a
seamless transition and smooth delivery of such high-frequency meeting
sessions, Polycom prepared a number of emergency support solutions for MOST as
back-up support.

With an advanced UC video solution at the heart of its
operations, MOST completed the review process of its science and technology,
and R&D projects in four days, conducting 175 meetings over video, with an
average of 44 sessions a day, resulting in streamlined processes, improved
efficiency and productivity, and significant travel savings to the amount of
$US 320,000.

“The Polycom RealPresence Platform is highly
efficient, delivering rapid cost savings and fundamentally changing the
traditional methods of face-to-face review and assessment processes. We
benefited from a large- scale video network connecting participants in over 20
provinces dispersed across the country, providing a reliable guarantee for 175
multi-media conferences,” said China Ministry of Science and Technology.

“High-definition telepresence solutions are changing
our customers’ traditional ways of meeting and collaborating,” said Steven
Li, vice president and general manager of Polycom China. “Polycom’s
immersive telepresence solutions and RealPresence Platform create a path for
MOST to accelerate approval processes and make important decisions in a much
quicker and more efficient manner,” Li added.

Polycom and Jive Software recently announced a strategic
relationship
to integrate Polycom HD video into Jive’s social business platform. The new
solution will transform how businesses engage and collaborate with customers,
employees, and partners.

The solution will allow Jive customers to conduct live
video chats, including group video calls, as well as record video meetings or
messages for archiving, training, and ongoing collaboration.
