Polycom unveils new version of Polycom RealPresence Mobile

Telecom Lead America: Polycom has launched Polycom
RealPresence Mobile 1.3, an update to its mobile video software.

With this update, the company has expanded availability
of its mobile video software to the HTC One S, HTC One X, and HTC Jetstream
tablet, along with the new Apple iPad.

“Polycom and our partners are continually expanding
the reach of secure video collaboration to support all devices, operating
systems, protocols, and networks,” said Sudhakar Ramakrisha, president of
Products and Services, Polycom.

The update includes a camera control feature to remotely
control the camera on the other end of a video meeting that allows users to
zoom in, pan, or tilt the camera.

The company said that the new camera feature is important
in many vertical market applications such as healthcare, educational settings,
and manufacturing plants.

Orlando Health, a provider of healthcare services in
central Florida, is utilizing RealPresence Mobile to help connect doctors with
patients and improve the quality of life for the practitioners.

Polycom RealPresence Mobile enables our doctors to
conduct video consultations from anywhere that they are able to access the
Internet. The far-end camera control has proven to be very easy to use, and a
great feature that lets the doctors who are in a remote location control the
view of the patient,” said Carlos Carrasco, Corp. Director of Business
Development and Innovation, Orlando Health.

The company has also unveiled enhancements to the Polycom
RealPresence Platform to boost scalability 100 percent to support up to 10,000
devices simultaneously.
