StarHub hires Peter K from Zain SA as CEO

Singapore-based telecom operator StarHub on Friday announced the appointment of Zain Saudi Arabia veteran Peter Kaliaropoulos as chief executive officer.

Peter is currently the CEO of Zain Saudi Arabia, a $2 billion turnover company, known for creating its first ever net profit in 2017 after ten years of operations.

Peter earlier worked in leadership roles in BT Asia Pacific, Telstra Australia & USA, Optus Australia, Clear New Zealand, Batelco Middle East and Ooredoo Kuwait.

Peter was a key member of the StarHub senior executive team which launched the company operations in the Singapore market in April 2000.

Peter has also led a significant number of acquisitions and contributed as a Board Director to a number of telecommunications companies and ICT start-ups in Australia, USA, Singapore, India and the Middle East.

Peter holds a Master of Business Administration, Marketing & Strategy from the Macquarie University, Australia and a Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical Engineering from the University of NSW, Australia.

Zain Saudi Arabia earlier said it elevated its chief operating officer, Al Deghaither, to head the telecom company as its next CEO.

Al Deghaither, started his journey with Zain Saudi when the company itself had just begun its operations, as radio planning and optimization Manager in 2009 where he participated in building the engineering department.

He led the commercial launch of the first 4G Network in the Kingdom back in 2011. Among his many achievements, Al Deghaither led one of the biggest projects in Zain Saudi history (project Reload) with a total investment of SAR 4.5 billion.

He was appointed as chief technology officer after the completion of the project. He was appointed as chief operating officer with the added responsibility of Regulatory Affairs as well as Innovation and Digital Transformation.

Al Deghaither holds a Bachelor Degree in Telecommunication and Electronics from the King Saud University.
