TE Connectivity bags $67 million contract from Chorus New Zealand

Telecom Lead Asia: Chorus New Zealand has awarded TE
Connectivity a contract worth $67 million over a four-year period, with an
option to extend the contract for an additional two years.

 

Under the contract, TE will supply a range of
connectivity solutions including optical fiber distribution frames and other
fiber connectivity solutions. TE employs over 200 people in New
Zealand.

key equipment supplier.  The team at TE Connectivity is proud to be a part
of Chorus’ work to bring fiber to more New Zealanders than ever before,”
said David Redfern, senior vice president of TE Connectivity’s Telecom
Networks business.

 

The company selected TE to supply connectivity products
for Chorus’ existing network infrastructure and for the company’s part in
delivering the New Zealand government’s Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB)
initiative.

 

“TE’s proven fiber connectivity equipment will help
us build and maintain the network which retail service providers can use to
deliver innovative UFB services that can change the way their customers
experience the internet,” said Chris Dyhrberg, general manager of Network Build
at Chorus.

 

Chorus is New Zealand operates a national network
that includes more than 29,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable.

 

Recently, TE Connectivity teamed up with Texas Instruments to introduce a new high density
module (HDM) for its FlexWave Prism distributed antenna system (DAS).

 

The new high density module (HDM) doubles the number of
frequencies a FlexWave Prism DAS can support or doubles its output power.
