Telefonica taps Amdocs for modernizing BSS in Chile and Peru

Telecom service provider Telefonica has selected Amdocs for modernizing its business support systems (BSS) in Chile and Peru.

This is an extension of its transformation project in Argentina. The transformation project enables the global telecoms to benefit from improved speed and less cost.

“With the new transformation projects in Chile and Peru we are continuing to execute on our strategy to differentiate Telefonica by enabling all customer interactions online and ensuring a world class multi-channel and digital customer experience” said Phil Jordan, global chief information officer of Telefonica, in a statement.

Utilizing Amdocs software, Telefonica subscribers can move between all customer interaction channels, whether self-service or agent assisted, via the Web, call center or at the retail store, across its entire quad-play offering – wireline, wireless, Internet and TV.

Earlier, Telefonica said its Capital spending (Capex) in 2014 will increase focusing on 4G and fiber. Its Capex to sales will be 15.5-16 percent in 2014 as compared with 14.5 percent in 2013. The expected Capex will be around 9.1 billion euros in 2014 if the company is going to spend 16 percent of its annual sales. The telecoms posted 57.06 billion euros revenues last year.
