Vidyo raises $22.5 million to fund global expansion of telepresence

Vidyo announced that it raised $22.5 million through Series
D round of financing, bringing the total amount of capital raised by the
company to $97 million.

Existing investors such as Menlo Ventures, Rho Ventures,
Star Ventures and Four Rivers Group participated in the round, which was led by
QuestMark Partners.

Vidyo will use the funding to further expand its sales and marketing activities to
address the global market demand for higher quality, more flexible and scalable
mobile, desktop, room system and immersive telepresence systems.

Vidyo is the only company that offers a telepresence
solution that extends from an immersive room, to desktops and iPads or Android
mobile devices, on a single infrastructure,” said Ofer Shapiro, CEO and
co-founder of Vidyo.

“Vidyo is fortunate to have outstanding investors
who understand the architectural shift occurring in the market today and
customers who will no longer pay the excessive cost of traditional telepresence
when they can truly have more for less,” Shapiro added.

Vidyo has been awarded 9 patents and has 27 patents
pending for its revolutionary VidyoRouter platform.

The video conferencing market will undergo exponential
growth in the next five years and new market leaders will emerge,” said Tim
Krongard, Partner at QuestMark Partners.

Vidyo is leading the innovation charge in video
conferencing today and has emerged as an industry-changing force as the market
moves to mass deployment of integrated mobile, desktop and telepresence
solutions. We are delighted to be part of Vidyo’s continued success,” Krongard
added.

Vidyo recently announced the appointments
of James Fairweather to a newly created position, VP Worldwide Channels and
Mark Reid, to the position as Sr. director of Engineering at Vidyo.

Both Fairweather and Reid join Vidyo from HP’s Visual
Collaboration Business Unit after longer tenures at Polycom where they were
focused on video conferencing and telepresence. Fairweather is responsible for
driving worldwide channel revenue and recruitment and reports to Rob Hughes,
Vidyo SVP of WW Sales.
