Vocera, Polycom, and Cisco are top 3 WiFi phone vendors

Telecom Lead America: Vocera, Polycom, and Cisco are the
top 3 WiFi phone vendors in the first quarer of 2012.

Vocera, Polycom, and Cisco continued their tight battle
for the lead in the single-mode WiFi phone market, all within several revenue
market-share points of each other, according to Infonetics Research.

Recently, In-Stat said the market for Wi-Fi phones in the
consumer market has not materialized and the majority of vendors have exited
the market. DECT phone systems dominate the consumer IP phone market, with
corded phones predominantly being sold in specific regionsof the world or for SOHO use.

Impacting both the enterprise and consumer IP phone
markets are the Wi-Fi/cellular combination phones. Wireless operators have
embraced VoIP on their networks and a majority of smartphones today ship with
Wi-Fi connectivity.

IP phones sales have recovered from the deep recession in
2009 and are poised for growth. Within the business market, wired IP phones remain
the standard, and will continue to dominate the enterprise IP phone market
throughout the forecast period. However, Wi-Fi and IP DECT phones continue to
grow, according to In-Stat.

Consumer VoIP services are predominantly being delivered
through service providers through the use of an analog telephone adapter (ATA),
with many consumers not knowing they have VoIP services, or requiring special
IP phones. DECT phone systems dominate the consumer IP phone market, with wired
phones predominantly being sold in specific regions of the world, or for SOHO
use.
