ZyXEL unveils intelligent gigabit switches for home entertainment

By Telecom Lead Team:ZyXEL Communications, a provider of secure
broadband networking, Internet connectivity and routing products, has launched
new Aerobeam five- and eight-port gigabit, Audio Video (AV) Ethernet Switches.

The Aerobeam AVS105 and AVS108 are specifically tuned for the
home entertainment center and automatically prioritize multimedia streams to
ensure the best possible performance and content quality.

The Aerobeam AV switches are able enough to make sure that
streaming traffic is not being interrupted by web browsing or large file
transfers happening at the same time.

“Today’s home theaters include multiple devices that demand
IP connectivity and utilize audio and video streaming services. Our Aerobeam AV
switches offer gigabit connectivity coupled with automated traffic
prioritization for superior entertainment experience, and eliminate customer
confusion during the set-up process. Just plug in your devices based on our
color coding and sit back for a fantastic entertainment experience,” said
Steven Joe, executive vice president for ZyXEL.

The switches monitor traffic in real time, and are able to
detect bandwidth and latency sensitive traffic such as SIP and streaming
traffic and give them priority while passing through the switch.

The priority act by these switches provides a better audio and
video experience for the end user, especially on networks with multiple users
utilizing the home network at the same time.

The Aerobeam AV Switches are optimized for Netflix, Hulu,
YouTube, Xbox, RTSP/RTP and SIP/SDP along with some media players such as
Windows Media Player, Winamp and RealPlayer.

The AVS105 and AVS 108 Gigabit AV Switches will be generally
available in March, 2012.

Few months back, ZyXEL Communications announced the availability of its new Aerobeam WirelessHD
device.

ZyXEL’s Aerobeam WHD6215 is a transmitter/receiver combo that
enables consumers to place their devices anywhere in the room to wirelessly
stream digital content, without worrying about unsightly wires.
