Zain Iraq to modernize radio networks ahead of Zeyara

Zain Iraq will modernize and expand its radio networks across Karbala, Najaf and Basra, to support the expected increase in data and voice traffic during Zeyara.

Nokia will be assisting Zain Iraq for the network upgrade that will allow users to enjoy improved indoor and outdoor coverage in both urban and rural areas as well as increased data throughput, leading to an overall superior customer experience.

Zain Iraq will also deploy the Nokia Mass Event Handler to address the increase in data and voice consumption expected during Zeyara.

Zain Iraq will use Nokia Flexi Multiradio 10 base station to add the third carrier of 5 MHz on the 900 MHz band to enhance capacity and increase coverage in suburban and rural areas.

Zain Iraq will benefit from Nokia’s Mass Event Handler as it will ensure better network performance to handle heavy traffic during Zeyara. HSUPA Interference Cancellation software handles data more efficiently, enabling end users to upload pictures without any network glitch.

Zain Iraq will deploy Nokia FlexiZone to enhance coverage and capacity of the existing 3G network in Karbala.

Zain Iraq will use Nokia’s refarming service to refarm GSM 900 MHz frequency to expand the operator’s 3G network.

Zain Iraq will utilize Nokia’s NetAct virtualized network management software for troubleshooting, assurance, administration, software management and configuration.

Nokia said its Network Planning and Optimization (NPO), Network Implementation, and Care services will ensure smooth execution of the project and maximize the return on Zain’s technology investments.
