Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel announced its OTT video content agreement with media company ZEE Entertainment Enterprises.
The strategy of Airtel is to enhance ARPU from its smartphone users across the country. Airtel is the largest telecom operator in terms of subscribers and revenue. Video content will boost data ARPU of Airtel.
Airtel is making huge investment in mobile data networks to boost its revenue and user experience.
ZEE’s OTT platform, ZEE5 has 100,000 plus hours of catch-up content and 90 plus live TV channels. The company has presence in the movies and music space.
Airtel and ZEEL will work to curate digital/OTT video content solutions for customers across India.
Curated / select video content produced by ZEEL, including TV shows, original series and movies will be available on Airtel’s digital properties like Airtel TV, in addition to ZEE’s digital platform, ZEE5. This will enable Airtel’s mobile and home broadband customers to receive OTT video content.
ZEE5 App, which includes Video on Demand (VOD) content along with ZEE5 Originals, Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos, Lifestyle shows, Kids shows and Plays, will be available to download through the Airtel TV app.
This will add to Airtel’s over 10,000 shows, movies and 375+ LIVE TV channels. The users of Airtel will continue to enjoy ZEE’s 37 LIVE TV Channels.
Both Airtel and ZEE will drive development and marketing of innovative content solutions for the Indian market and collaborate in areas such as digital advertising.
