Telecom Lead India: Blue Coat Systems, a provider of Web
security and WAN optimization solutions, announced the launch of
its K9 Web Protection Browser for all Android mobile devices in
India.
Available free of charge from the Google Play market, the
new application protects individuals and families from malicious threats,
including phishing and malware on mobile phones and tablets.
Furthermore, the application also provides real-time
filtering of content that is not appropriate for young children, including
pornography, hate/violence, illegal drugs and gambling.
Unlike home computers, mobile devices lacked basic
protection against web-based threats, which exposes consumers to threats such
as malware and phishing. This lack of protection is particularly concerning,
given the risky behavior displayed by consumers when they engage with their
mobile devices. To make matters worse, a high number of these users are
children,” said Ambarish Deshpande, managing director for India sales.
With this application, and the previously released K9 Web
Protection Browser for Apple iOS app, the company has extended its Web security.
The company said that its enterprise-class Web security
protects 85 percent of the FORTUNE Global 500 to mobile devices that comprise
67 percent of the smartphone market.
The company’s chief marketing officer and senior
vice president of corporate and business development, Steve Daheb said mobile
devices are quickly becoming a primary platform for Web access by nearly all
age groups.
The adoption of these mobile devices has moved faster
than the security required to protect the users of those devices, creating a
considerable challenge for parents that want to provide a consistently safe Web
experience for their children,” he said.
Blue Coat adds web security to WAN optimization for
re-architecting enterprise WAN
Last year, Blue Coat Systems added Cloud-Connector to its
Blue Coat MACH5 WAN optimization appliances and virtual appliances.
