Facebook For Every Phone is powered by Snaptu, an Israel-based mobile platform. Snaptu’s platform uses the power of servers to accelerate and optimize the way mobile apps work, and is the key to providing a great user experience on low-end devices.

In 2011, Facebook acquired Snaptu which was founded in 2007.

Facebook for Every Phone App is optimized  to use less data than other Java apps and mobile sites,  which is a boon for users on limited data plans.

With 1.11 billion monthly active users globally, and 751 million monthly active  users  on  mobile as of March 31, 2013, Facebook’s mobile user base has  witnessed  an increase of 54 percent year-over-year.  ( Facebook mobile users jump 20% in US and UK )
