In Indonesia, mobile operator billing is popular than credit card billing for online payments. Indonesian digital goods market is estimated to reach $244 million in 2013, while less than 10 percent of payments are made with credit cards. Indonesia has an estimated 57 million smartphone owners, a number which has doubled since last year.

South-East Asian countries as a whole have some of the highest spending on mobile entertainment. According to Fortumo in-app payments data, the monthly average revenue per paying user (ARPPU) is $19.6 in Taiwan, $14.5 in Thailand and $13.2 in Malaysia. In contrast, ARPPU in Western markets is significantly lower – $6.9 in the United States, $11.2 for the United Kingdom and $10.6 for Germany.

In Asia Pacific, Fortumo is available for 2.3 billion phone owners in 10 countries – Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand & Vietnam.
