Trulia unveils Android tablet app and dedicated rentals app

Trulia, a website for home
buyers, sellers, renters, and real estate professionals, announced the launch
of two new mobile apps for the Android platform — a native real estate app for
Android tablets, and an app just for renters.

Trulia
is building rapidly on Android’s mobile platform to deliver real estate
information to users everywhere they want it, and ahead of the curve.

Trulia
is the first of the major real estate industry players to bring a top-notch
real estate app to market for the rapidly growing Android tablet platform.
Trulia’s application maximizes the tablet experience by utilizing the full
screen to display beautiful property photos and a large, interactive map,
making searching for properties easy.

Trulia developed the rentals app in response to strong usage growth and consumer
demand for rental information, both on
and in the company’s mobile offerings. With this new app, Trulia is providing a
dedicated experience that caters to the specific, time-sensitive needs of
renters.

Renters
generally operate on a much shorter timeline than house hunters, so they need
to move even more quickly and have real-time access to properties that may only
have a brief window of time-on-market. Trulia’s Android rentals app offers
features to help people organize their searches, sign up for alerts so they’re
first to find out about a new rental on the market, and quickly identify
properties that make sense for them to spend time contacting, visiting, and
eventually calling home.

Trulia
has made a major push in mobile in the last year, developing best-in-class
mobile apps and building a world-class in-house mobile development team. In the
past 12 months, Trulia has launched both Android and iPad apps, and the
additions of the native Android tablet and rentals apps create an even more
robust mobile roster. Trulia’s Mobile usage is outgrowing the mobile industry
by about 200 percent, and Android rentals and tablet apps will continue to fuel
that growth.

“Trulia
is committed to maximizing user options for Android, the fastest-growing mobile
platform out there. Android tablets like Amazon Kindle Fire and the Sony S are
new to market, but they’ll undoubtedly start to matter to a greater number of
consumers, and Trulia looks forward to participating in the success of this new
platform,” said Steven Yarger, mobile product manager at Trulia.

“As
house-hunting becomes more of an ‘on-the-go’ activity, giving users an optimal
and best-in-class experience on mobile is a major priority at Trulia,”
said Pete Flint, co-founder and CEO.

“Mobile
is core to our business and key to our mission of giving users the inside scoop
on real estate. We’ll continue to invest in our mobile team and programs in
order to rapidly innovate,” Flint added.
