txtWeb, Airtel to launch text-based app store in India

txtWeb, a text-based app platform from Intuit in association with Airtel announced the launch of a text-based app store in India.

This app store enables Bharti Airtel users, across any mobile device, to access information ranging from academic content, social networking, sports, breaking news, financial tools to games and more.

The service will be available nationally at a cost of 50 paise per SMS and also in packs of Re 1 for 2 days, Rs. 7 for 15 days and Rs.15 for 30 days.

txtWeb enables mobile phone users to discover and consume information from the internet by SMSing keywords such as @wiki, @email, @cri, @gold, @movies, etc.

The app platform has an intelligent search feature that allows users to find answers to a range of queries from upcoming festivals, new movie releases to locations in a specific area. Users “pull” information from txtWeb as per their requirements without getting spammed from senders.

Currently, txtWeb has over 11 million users across India using one or more of the 3500 active apps built by developers and businesses across India.
