Idea Cellular FY 2014 result: Revenues up 17%, adds 5.1 mn 3G users

Indian telecom service provider Idea Cellular on Monday said its FY 2014 revenue rose 17.3 percent to Rs 265,18.9 crore. Profit grew to 1967.8 crore from Rs 1,010.9 crore. The Aditya Birla group firm added 5.1 million new 3G users in FY 2014.

Idea Cellular’s 3G subscriber base now stands at 10.2 million. The 3G user mobile data ARPU is steady at Rs 111 per month.

The revenue growth was supported by both voice and data income. Idea Cellular said its voice minutes rose 8.6 percent to 157.1 billion minutes.

The Indian telecom carrier posted 31 percent growth in 2G and 3G mobile data volume to 27.3 billion MB in Q4 FY 2014 against Q3.

The company added 17.7 million net subscribers on VLR in FY 2014 against 14.9 million net subscriber VLR additions in FY 2013.

Idea Cellular subscriber base now stands at 137.9 million.

ARPU of Idea Cellular improved to Rs 173 in Q4 from Rs 169 in Q3.

The company improved non voice revenue share to 16.5 percent from 16.1 percent in Q3 led by data growth.
Data revenue of Idea Cellular rose 3.5 percent to reach 10.1 percent of overall service revenue in Q4 FY2014.

The company further revised Data subscriber definition, by eliminating from its reporting incidental data users of less than 1 Megabyte/month; there by Idea mobile Data user base remains nearly flat at 25.3 million (2G+3G).

2G+3G data ARPU improved to Rs 104 and mobile data usage per data subscriber grew to 410 MB (2G+3G) in Q4 FY 2014.
