Vodafone Idea has selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) for its operations support systems (OSS) platform for Vodafone’s Service & Network Operations Center (SNOC).
Vodafone Idea’s SNOC in Pune, India monitors and controls its vast network and service offerings to over 334 million subscribers.
Earlier, Vodafone Idea announced the selection of IBM as well.
The company plans to streamline its service assurance processes with the HPE Intelligent Assurance solution and expand the SNOC’s existing robotic process automation (RPA) journey as it transforms into a digital service provider.
Vodafone Idea’s SNOC remotely monitors 192,000 2G sites and around 372,000 broadband (3G+4G) sites across 22 circles.
Vodafone Idea on Monday said it added 8,915 4G TDD sites during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2018-19. Vodafone Idea also deployed massive MIMO on around 2,000 sites in select key locations.
Vodafone Idea’s 4G population coverage reached 65 percent as of March 31, 2019, compared to less than 50 percent in August 2018. Vodafone Idea has added 5.4 million 4G customers, taking the number of 4G subscriber base to 80.7 million. The broadband subscriber base of Vodafone Idea reached 110.2 million.
HPE, one of the clients of Vodafone India, said its OSS solution will assist solve Vodafone Idea’s challenges by offering innovative solutions that help to address them from a revenue, cost and efficiency basis.
Vodafone Idea will further automate operations by introducing HPE Intelligent Assurance to convert data into actionable insight, thus paving the way towards zero touch operations and self-driven networks, said Vishant Vora, chief technology officer of Vodafone Idea.
