Gionee India reveals strategy to grow smartphone business

The primary focus of Gionee is to enhance its engagement with channel partners. The second focus is to enhance its retail presence in order to connect with its smartphone buyers. Gionee also wants to ensure that its Indian phone customers and partners are confident about the innovation capability of the brand.

Gionee recently arranged a 2-day visit for more than 50 of its top partners including distributors, retailers etc to visit the Gionee global factory in Shenzhen. The factory — spread across 330,000 sq. metres — has an annual production capacity of 40 million units.

The objective of arranging the two-day channel partner visit to the Schenzen factory was to enhance the company’s engagement with the channel community as well as to apprise the distributors about Gionee’s capability for building quality products.

Xiaomi has become the number one smartphone brand in India in Q3 2017 with a market share of 23.5 percent by shipping 9.2 million smartphones – beating Samsung and Apple.

Gionee India claims that it has over 6 percent market share of the Indian smartphone market. Gionee is in the process of bringing innovative smartphones to take on Xiaomi, OPPO, Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Lenovo, among others.Gionee channel partners in ChinaGionee also rewarded its top performing channel partners such as Simtel Trading from Kerela, HV Connecting from Gujarat, PP Telecell from Delhi, Flash from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu and Soham Telecom from Pune.

The company is expanding its present team of promoters from 15,000 to 50,000 to strengthen its retail counters.

“Our strategy is to provide in-depth understanding of the company’s sales and marketing objectives to all our partners, and provide regular incentives that will in turn enthuse them to achieve the maximum sale figures,” said David Chang, global sales director, Gionee Communication Equipment.

Gionee India has grown its distribution network by 30 percent and doubled the national distributors in the current year. Gionee, which has presence in more than 42,000 retail outlets in 2,200 cities, will grow retail presence to 75,000 outlets in the coming year.

Gionee has invested in 555 exclusive service stations with plans to expand to 600 enhance its after sales relationships with the customers.
