Priced at Rs 46,990, Sony Xperia Z Ultra has entered the Indian phablet market.

The new phone is already available in online retail stores at discounted prices.

Sony India has partnered with Vodafone to offer 8GB of free data download for a period of two months with the latest device.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra will assist the devices major to increase its smartphone market share from 5.1 percent that it grabbed in Q1 2013. In Q4 2012, Sony had 10.2 percent market share in India.

Sony India marketing head Tadato Kimura does not talk about its strategies in India. The company will be unveiling new smartphones soon. But its present focus is on strengthening Xperia Z and Xperia Z Ultra range of devices in the country.

Xperia Z Ultra sports 16GB internal storage and supports microSD card expansion up to 64GB.

Sony’s latest smartphone consists of 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and microUSB 2.0 as connectivity options.

8MP rear camera with LED flash and 2MP front camera look small for this huge phone.

Sony India claims that it is the biggest full HD phone in the world and is resistant to water as well as dust.

The Xperia Z Ultra will come preinstalled in Sony TV and Sony Music apps, along with free Bigflix subscription for a month. The company also launched accessories like stereo Bluetooth headset and magnetic charging dock.
