Apple leads the tablet market for SMBs in the U.S.

Apple is the smartphone and tablet of choice amongst
small and medium-sized businesses, according to Intermedia.

Intermedia, which manages 350,000 premium hosted Exchange
email accounts, reviewed the number of ActiveSync1-based smartphones
its customers activated to sync their email, contacts and calendars.

78 percent use an Apple-based device, with 57 percent
choosing the iPhone and 21 percent choosing the iPad. iPad activation is up 102
percent since May when Intermedia last reported cloud mobility statistics, with
more users relying on iPad than any other single ActiveSync smartphone or
tablet, except for iPhone.

Intermedia’s business email and collaboration services
support the full range of smartphones and tablets, including iPhone, Android
devices, and BlackBerry.

“Mobile workers are relying on multiple devices to
get business done, from their traditional computer to their smartphone, and
increasingly their tablet,” said Manlio Carrelli, CMO, Intermedia.

These workers expect their business email, contacts,
calendars and files to be available and synced up across all their devices and
to be able to use whichever brand and type of device they prefer.

This can be a resource challenge for small and mid-sized
businesses to set up secure and manage on their own. Intermedia’s cloud
services deliver these collaboration and productivity capabilities as a service
with 24×7 support from certified professionals.

In addition to hosted Microsoft Exchange 2010, as well as
other Microsoft products such as Office Communications Server 2007 and
SharePoint 2010, Intermedia offers an integrated suite of cloud communications
and collaboration services.

These services include Encrypted Email, Online Backup,
Hosted PBX and Conference Bridges. All Intermedia services are set up and
managed from Intermedia’s HostPilot Control Panel.
