Telecom Lead America: iPass, a global provider of
Wi-Fi services, has announced a new version of iPass Open Mobile, which is
optimized to take advantage of the higher resolution and user interface of the
iPad.

 

With this iPad-optimized version of Open Mobile,
employees can take advantage of at-a-glance dashboard that provides a view
of current connection status, historic data usage and previous connections.

 

It also offersiPass Hotspot Finder, which is a
convenient tool for locating (through search or geo-location) global
destinations with available iPass Wi-Fi hotspots.

 

Furthermore, Open Mobile’s wireless data usage meter
enables Open Mobile users to view their historical Wi-Fi and 3G data usage.

 

“Enterprise mobility is creating new opportunities
for business and productivity but consumerization presents new challenges for
IT departments,” said Barbara Nelson, Chief Technology Officer at
iPass.

 

The company said that it helps enterprises manage
their mobile capabilities so they can simply and securely embrace devices such
as the iPad that help provide significant productivity gains.

 

Our new iPad-optimized version of Open Mobile will allow
enterprises to affordably roam on the world’s largest carrier-independent
network without the threat of bill shock,” Barbara added.

 

iPass Open Mobile for iOS delivers seamless and secure
access to the iPass Mobile Network, the world’s largest commercial Wi-Fi
network with over 700,000 Wi-Fi venues globally.

 

According to the latest data from the iPass Mobile
Workforce Report 34 percent of mobile workers have an iPad that they use
for work, and 88 percent use Wi-Fi as their predominant means to connect.

 

iPass Open Mobile for iOS is available on
the Apple iTunes AppStore to iPass Open Mobile Platform customers.

 

Recently, iPass expanded its partnership with iBAHN to cover 225 additional European hotel
conference centers as part of the iPass Mobile Network.
