Tablet maker Wishtel to expand Mumbai and Gujarat production facilities

Telecom Lead India: Wishtel, a tablet provider, will
increase its design, manufacturing, and software engineering capabilities.

The expansion is primarily to address the growing global
demand for the company’s tablet products and turnkey solution services.

Since the launch of Wishtel IRA and IRA Thing tablet PCs,
the company has shipped over 25,000 devices and expects to sell 100,000 units
per month in the second half of 2012.

Wishtel will expand the capacity of its manufacturing
facilities in Mumbai and Kandla (Gujarat). The tablet maker will increase
investment in R&D to enhance its hardware design and software engineering
capabilities.

Our clients see India as a highly attractive alternative
to China for the manufacturing of tablets because of our greater speed and
flexibility in customizing hardware designs to meet their exact customized
requirements,” said Milind Shah, CEO of Wishtel.

The company has signed agreements with system
Integrators, telcos and computer and electronics brand names in India, the
Middle East, Europe, and Malaysia for designing and manufacturing tablet based
on Android and Linux.

The company is working with global SoC platform providers
to expand its tablet solutions, which already includes entry level, midrange
and performance tablets featuring a choice of 7″, 8″, & 10″ resistive and
capacitive screens.

Our superior software engineering capabilities on both
Android and Linux also give them a huge advantage in creating truly
differentiated products in this highly competitive market. Moreover servicing
these tablets PCs in India is more economical and convenient instead of sending
them back to China,” Shah added.
