TelecomLead Tablet of 2011 : Samsung Galaxy 10.1

The tablet revolution has brought numerous amazing
tablets this year. Almost every handset manufacturer has jumped into the tablet
war. We have seen some new launches and some upgrades in tablets in 2011. But,
one tablet that outshines all is Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Way before its official launch, Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1
was announced as the best iPad alternative tablet by many technology experts.

The amazing performance of Galaxy Tab 10.1 made everyone
accept the predictions of technology experts that Galaxy tab is the ultimate
tab that is loaded with almost everything in it. Galaxy tab 10.1 is same as
Galaxy Tab 750. In USA, Samsung launched it as Galaxy Tab 10.1. While they
named it as Galaxy Tab 750 in India.

With the release of the iPad 2 in first quarter of 2011, Apple
gave stiff competition to Samsung’s original 7 inch tablet. In response of the tough
competition, Samsung launched its new Galaxy 10.1 inch tab to hold a strong
hand in the tablet market.

However, with evident shake-up from the Galaxy 10.1,
Apple filed injunctions and other legal filings to stop the
sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Apple has won a ruling in Germany, which
has caused the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to be removed from store shelves across the
European Union. Yet, it has lost its appeal in Australia to ban the Galaxy tab
over a patent issue.

Amid all the negative news about the Galaxy tab, it
continues to drive sales and business partnerships. Samsung has sealed many
business-to-business partnerships in industries including transportation,
logistics, education, and consumer goods and services.

Recently, American Airlines announced the deployment of
6,000 of the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices onboard select flights. The tablet is
replacing the airline’s current personal entertainment device in American’s
premium cabins on various transcontinental flights. Also, the University of
Southern Mississippi also offering Galaxy Tab 10.1 mobile tablets, loaded with
Blackboard Mobile Learn, to students participating in an Honors College pilot
program.

Size wise the 10.1 inch Samsung is very compact, even
relative to the new thinner iPad 2, its only 8.6mm thick, 0.2mm slimmer than
the already slim Apple slate. It also weighs in lighter at 565g to the iPad 2’s
607g, making it a little lighter even though it is notably taller than the
Apple iPad 2.

The Samsung tab is powered with dual-core 1GHz processor
(Cortex-A9 processor, ULP GeForce GPU, Tegra 2 T20 chipset) and has a larger
screen, with a 10.1 inch 16:10 version displaying LCD images on a 1200×800
resolution.

Loaded with Android 3.1, Galaxy 10.1is an excellent
gadget for multitasking, the new OS, also referred as Honeycomb allows the use
of Adobe Flash. Memory wise Galaxy Tab can be upgraded by micro SD by up to
32GB which offers certain flexibility that its rival iPad 2 doesn’t provide.

Galaxy 10.1 also beats other tablets in terms of add-ons.
With wider range and reasonably priced accessories Galaxy can be termed as
tablet of the year.
