Qualcomm intros premium wearable platforms

Qualcomm Technologies has introduced premium wearable platforms — Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon W5 Gen 1.
Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ and W5 Platforms for WearablesQualcomm Technologies said these platforms are designed to offer low power and better performance for connected wearables with a focus on battery life, premium user experiences, and sleek, innovative designs.

Oppo and Mobvoi announced their smartwatches based on these new platforms, with 25 designs in the pipeline across segments.

Low power platform is based on 4nm process technology and is built for next generation wearables with ultra-low power, breakthrough performance, and highly integrated packaging.

Enhancements to wearable hybrid architecture offer 50 percent lower power, 2X higher performance, 2X richer features, and 30 percent smaller size compared to previous generation.

Reference designs from Compal and Pegatron help customers develop products faster.

Qualcomm Technologies said enhancements to the Snapdragon W5+ platform offer 50 percent lower power, 2X higher performance, 2X richer features, and 30 percent smaller size, compared to previous generation.

The purpose-built platform is comprised of a 4nm-based system-on-chip and 22nm-based integrated always-on co-processor. It incorporates a series of platform innovations including new ultra-low power Bluetooth 5.3 architecture, low power islands for Wi-Fi, GNSS, and Audio, and low power states such as Deep Sleep and Hibernate.

Mobvoi has collaborated with Qualcomm Technologies to launch a series of TicWatch smartwatches based on the Snapdragon Wear platforms.
