Semiconductor major Qualcomm Technologies today made several announcements at Mobile World Congress 2017 Shanghai.

Xiaotiancai has tied up Qualcomm Technologies to launch its Xiaotiancai Z3 kid smartwatch based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform. Xiaotiancai will also be transitioning its product line to 4G supported by Qualcomm.

Qualcomm Technologies is bringing LTE categories M1 (eMTC) and NB1 (NB-IoT) connectivity to the wearables industry with the launch of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 1200 platform. Snapdragon Wear 1200 gains from the wide coverage provided by LTE narrowband technologies, or LTE IoT.

Moreover, Qualcomm Technologies announced Qualcomm Fingerprint Sensors, ultrasonic fingerprint solutions consisting of sensors for Display, Glass and Metal, detection of directional gestures, and underwater fingerprint match and device wake-up.

Geely Auto Group selected Qualcomm Snapdragon automotive platforms for infotainment systems in Geely Auto Group vehicles. These systems include infotainment offering with an integrated 4G LTE modem using Snapdragon 820Am automotive platform.

Geely vehicles featuring Snapdragon automotive platforms are expected to be available from 2020 onward. Geely’s connected cars featuring telematics applications are already available using Snapdragon LTE modems.

Qualcomm said the Snapdragon 450 Mobile Platform is available catering to mid-range smartphones and tablets. The chipset major said Snapdragon 450 delivers improvements in battery life, graphics and compute performance, imaging and LTE connectivity over its predecessor.

Qualcomm Technologies said leading device and network OEMs are realizing the benefits of 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO solutions to provide premium Wi-Fi performance and improve the user experience.

The US-based technology company said that more than 100 device designs from leading device OEMs in China and around the world are currently leveraging the 2×2 11ac Wi-Fi technology.
