Blue Coat Systems to expand presence in Indian market

Telecom Lead India: Web security and WAN optimization
solutions provider Blue Coat Systems is expanding its presence
in Indian market.

 

As part of enhancing its market share in India,
Blue Coat Systems will focus on designing new products and
technologies for Indian market.

 

Its multi-pronged strategy also includes its plan to
strengthen the presence of its channel partners. Blue Coat Systems is currently
working with channel partners such as Wipro, HCL, HP, IBM, etc.

 

Blue Coat Systems claims that it is a leader in
both Web security and WAN optimization solutions market.

 

Ambarish Deshpande, managing director for India sales,
Blue Coat Systems, said the company is growing better than the
market.

 

During tough market conditions,
Blue Coat Systems is assisting the retail, enterprise and telecom
service provider customers to improve RoI by offering solutions which can bring
down infrastructure costs.

 

India is an important market for us. There are several
opportunities. Cloud is one of them. Working with enterprises which use video
for training, recruiting, etc. is an emerging opportunity. Our solutions enable
enterprises to set priorities for themselves,” Deshpande told TelecomLead.com,
in a telephonic interview.

 

The emerging concept of bring your own device (BYOD)
among enterprises is also assisting the company to grow its presence in India.
According to Convergence Catalyst, India is expected to have between 18-20
million smart phone users in 2012.  Mobile devices with Android operating
systems will be the second highest selling devices in India with a 28.2 percent
market share.

 

Blue Coat introduces K9 Web protection browser for
all Android Phones and Tablets in India

 

Recently, Blue Coat Systems announced that
its K9 Web Protection Browser for Android will be available for all
Android mobile devices in India. With this application, and the previously
released K9 Web Protection Browser for Apple iOS
app, Blue Coat is extending the same enterprise-class Web
security that protects 85 percent of the FORTUNE Global 500 to mobile devices
that comprise 67 percent of the smartphone market.

 

Blue Coat Systems did not share specific
details about its investment plans in India.

 

Recently, Blue Coat Systems hired 3 senior
professionals to strengthen its management team.

 

Venkat Raghavan joined as senior vice president of
research and development to lead the company’s product management and research
and development organization. He joined Blue Coat Systems from IBM.

 

The company is aggressively expanding its executive team
in India with results-driven executives.

 

Blue Coat adds web security to WAN optimization for
re-architecting enterprise WAN

 

Last year, Blue Coat Systems added
Cloud-Connector to its Blue Coat MACH5 WAN optimization
appliances and virtual appliances. Cloud-Connector allows companies
with Blue Coat WAN optimization solutions deployed in branch or
remote offices to instantly apply Web security from the Blue Coat Cloud
Service.
