Telecom network vendor Ciena said its revenue rose 11 percent to $621.6 million for its fiscal second quarter ended April 30, 2015.
Ciena posted a net income of $20.7 million against net loss of $10.2 million for the fiscal second quarter 2014.
Ciena generated $432.9 million from Converged Packet Optical business, $53.3 million from Packet Networking, $16.5 million from Optical Transport and $118.9 million from Software and Services.
The company said its Q2 revenue from Converged Packet Optical business increased to 69.6 percent from 63.7 percent.
“We delivered outstanding second quarter results that, when combined with our strong financial performance during the past several quarters, demonstrate increased operating leverage and sustained momentum in our business,” said Gary B. Smith, president and CEO, Ciena.
Ciena said 63.9 percent of its second quarter revenue came from North America, 16.4 percent from Europe, Middle East and Africa, 7.7 percent from Caribbean and Latin America, 12 percent from Asia Pacific. The networking company’s revenue contribution from North America fell from 67.4 percent, while Asia Pacific showed solid growth as revenue contribution rose from 8.4 percent.
