Cornerstone Telephone selects Zhone Technologies

Zhone Technologies announced the addition of Cornerstone
Telephone to its MXK customer roster. An advanced communications solutions
provider, Cornerstone has been a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC)
provider since 2001.

The company offers telephone, x-digital subscriber lines
(xDSL) and Ethernet over coax (EoC) services to more than 13,000 access line
customers, and delivers comprehensive communication solutions and innovative
technologies aligned with customers’ organizational objectives.

Cornerstone deployed Zhone’s MXK as its multi-service
access solution for business VoIP and high speed Ethernet-over-copper services
for area businesses in Syracuse; Oneonta; New York City; Poughkeepsie; and
Richmond.

Cornerstone chose the MXK to provide both copper and
fiber services on a single platform based on their rewarding experience with
the deployment of Zhone’s MALC multi-service platform within their network.

Zhone’s ability to deliver both VoIP and High Speed
Internet Access with the greatest port density in the smallest footprint is the
key deciding factor in our MXK deployment,” said Don Walsh, chief technical
officer of Cornerstone Telephone.

The MXK offers Cornerstone’s customers bandwidth
increases and provides both data and VoIP for expanded revenue opportunities
and improved customer satisfaction.

Cornerstone will continue to rely on the MXK’s 460 Gbps
backplane, 28 Gbps uplinks and Terabit switching capacity along with 72 ports
of POTS/VoIP, 72 ports of ADSL2+ and extended rate SHDSL-EFM cards.

This domestic deployment furthers our customer base in
the Northeastern United States and our strong relationship with Cornerstone and
prove once again that our solutions are the right fit for business services,”
said Brian Caskey, chief marketing officer of Zhone.

To-date, Zhone has deployed more than 2,000 of its
fully redundant, carrier-grade all-IP MXK platforms with more than 150 service
providers globally. Total subscriber capacity supported by these deployments
now exceeds 15 million.

Zhone Technologies recently announced that its MXK
multi-service access node (MSAN) will be used
by SRT Communications (SRT) in combination with Microsoft Mediaroom to deliver
new IPTV and video services via ADSL2+ and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks.

As the largest telephone cooperative in North Dakota, SRT
serves 48,000 customers, including consumers, businesses and governmental
agencies, and has remained a regional leader in deploying enhanced telecommunications
services for the past 60 years.
