Dialogic to showcase mobile video service featuring PowerMedia Software

Telecom Lead America: Dialogic will showcase a mobile
video communication service featuring Dialogic PowerMedia Software.

The mobile video demonstration will showcase smartphone
and tablet devices connecting to a video conference over a live 4G/LTE network,
with an option to stream video content into the conference.

The streaming video element of PowerMedia Software lends
itself to many social, business and vertical market-oriented applications.

The demonstration will show that service providers can
use SIP-based mobile apps to help deliver rich communication services today,
including video calling, conferencing and collaboration.

The service will be demonstrated for the first time over
a 4G/LTE network at CTIA Wireless 2012.

Dialogic said the use of SIP application server and
multimedia server software such as PowerMedia sets the stage for innovation in
rich IP communications services to a variety of endpoints including laptops,
iPhones and Android smartphones, iPads and Android tablets using 4G/LTE
networks and Wi-Fi networks.

“Carriers’ video conferencing offerings have never
really taken off, either because they required expensive dedicated endpoints or
because they simply didn’t offer the quality users expected in a paid
service,” said Jan Dawson, chief telecoms analyst at Ovum.

Service providers can provide better QOS/QOE by
exercising control over communications traffic through network, endpoint and
NOC monitoring and management. They maintain a direct service, billing and
marketing relationship with their customers, simplifying the buying and billing
process for value added services.

The open standard approach offered by Dialogic and its
ecosystem partners allows carriers and application developers to be able to
innovate and differentiate along the value chain, from client applications to
the service infrastructure and business model.

“4G/LTE represents one of the ‘last wireless miles’
of broadband service enabling the delivery of richer IP communication services
to mobile devices. It offers an opportunity for service providers to embrace
innovation and position themselves to positively impact ARPU by enhancing the
mobile experience for their customers,” said Kevin Gould, vice president
and general manager of Dialogic’s Value Added Services and Cloud Enabling
Group.
