Ericsson demos 1Tbps optical transport transmission technology at OFC/NFOEC

By Telecom Lead Team:Ericsson is demonstrating 1Tbps optical transport at
OFC/NFOEC in Los Angeles, California, demonstrating its commitment to
offering high-speed transmission solutions to customers.

To achieve this, Ericsson has partnered with Sant’Anna
School of Advanced Studies and CNIT, Italy’s national consortium for
telecommunications.

This type of innovation is crucial as The
Networked Society is demanding higher speed with more connectivity,” said Phil
Winterbottom, head of Optical & Metro Product Management at Ericsson. Not
only is this 1Tbps transmission milestone an optical innovation, it leverages
technology from Ericsson radio. At Ericsson, one of the things we are able to
do is combine our expertise in radio with the underlying transport needs to
support an end-to-end vision for our customers that leverages what we’re best
at.”

Ericsson demonstrated 400Gbps transmission in early 2011
and has recently deployed that technology in a field trial using Telefónica’s
existing network in Spain.

Mobile World Congress: Ericsson showcases 150Mbps LTE
connection on a live network

Meanwhile at the recently held Mobile World
Congress, Ericsson, in association with Renesas Mobile, has showcased LTE
Category 4, providing downlink speeds of up to 150Mbps, at Mobile World
Congress 2012.

Category 4 will enable smartphones and other LTE devices such as tablets and
routers to deliver better end-user experience.

The demonstration used Ericsson live infrastructure and
the SP2531 LTE triple-mode modem from Renesas Mobile.
