Ericsson Enhances Production Capacity at Jaipur Factory

Telecom equipment and solutions major Ericsson announced that it added a new assembly line at its supply site in Kukas, Jaipur for the production of its multi-standard Radio Base Station (RBS) 6000 modules locally.

This additional assembly line will enhance production capacity resulting in faster and better services to Ericsson’s customers in India.

Sachin Pilot, minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, inaugurated the new assembly line.

The telecom industry is playing a very significant role in the growth of the Indian economy. We recognize the long standing contribution of Ericsson in the growth of telecom infrastructure in India. The enhancement of local manufacturing capabilities will boost this sector by reducing the time to market and will also result in quicker uptake of new technologies,” Pilot said.

The addition of the assembly line will further develop our delivery capabilities in the region. With the introduction of new technologies, including 3G and TD-LTE, in India, the time is right for us to extend our capabilities to better support our customers. This step also reinforces our commitment to India,” said P. Balaji, vice president, Communications, Corporate Affairs and Business Development, Ericsson India.

Ericsson in India established its manufacturing unit in 1994 at Kukas, Jaipur (Rajasthan). Starting with wireline hardware manufacturing, it has now geared up to also manufacture 2G and 3G equipment. At this supply unit, Ericsson manages production lines providing equipment for radio access network, core network, transmission solutions and modules.
