Huawei has revealed an industry-first DOCSIS prototype, which supports downstream rate of 25Gbps and a series of E2E solutions to be used for global MSOs at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2016.

The launch claims to aid MSOs to achieve video and broadband service transformation and add to their competitiveness in the digital era.

Displaying how the DOCSIS technology can extend the spectrum to 3 GHz for high-quality UHDTV experience, the prototype is a development in coaxial cable technologies.

This release will encourage the MSO to design Gigabit networks with existing coaxial cables, a topic much discussed at the Expo.

In addition to the prototype, a series of video and broadband E2E solutions have also been launched. The solutions claim to enhance service and network capabilities of MSOs to offer premium video experience for end users.

In the Hybrid Video solution, Huawei will support MSOs to build next-generation video platforms and provides various TV services through an integrated delivery process.

The 10Gbps hybrid fiber coaxial (HFC) access platform by Huawei is a one-stop DOCSIS 3.1 deployment package built to achieve integrated network construction and IP-based video service transformation, claim the company.

HFC will pave the way towards all-digital networks and cuts the total cost of ownership (TCO) by 30 percent, added the release.

The Giga transport solution will support an ultra-large capacity and high-quality transmission, such that SDN technology-based optical networks achieve increased flexibility and efficiency.

The Giga backhaul solution was also unveiled which is intended to aid MSOs to build future-oriented IP backhaul networks. These networks support multi-service access and adopt NP-based programmable architectures, easing deployment and simplifying service evolution.

Speedy transformation is demanded by MSOs to hike competition and revenues, in the connected equipment market.

Huawei claims that it will lead to high-quality multi-screen video services to achieve fast transformation and enhance broadband performance for premium user experience, with these moves.

Meanwhile, Huawei is also focusing on cable technology innovation, while offering cable solutions for multiple global MSOs, driving video and broadband service transformation.

The SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2016 will be held on September 27–29, 2016 in Philadelphia, US, with Huawei located at #1471 of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Huawei has also announced a contract with Telefonica Peru to build the first Docsis 3.1-compliant converged ultra-broadband network in Latin America. The network, available for at least 1.7 million homes, will offer coaxial and fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) access and enable internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps for Peru region users.
