Mellanox Technologies, a supplier of high-performance,
end-to-end connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage systems,
announced the SX1016, an ultra-dense, low-latency 64-port 10GbE switch
delivered in a sleek, top-of-rack 1U form factor.
Based on the company’s SwitchX switch silicon ICs, the
SX1016 delivers up to 1.28Tb/s of switching bandwidth, extreme port density and
remarkably low 1.8W per port power consumption, making it an ideal choice for
customers who are aiming to reduce data center bandwidth bottlenecks, space and
energy.
According to Crehan Research, the high-speed Data Center
Ethernet Switch market will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28
percent, from over $3 Billion in 2010 to more than $12 Billion in 2015.

Designed with future expansions of data center
infrastructures in mind, the SX1016 is data center future-proofed with features
such as Data Center Bridging and management support of IPv6 today, with the
ability to extend L2 and L3 features through future software upgrades.
The SX1016 supports reversed airflow adding flexibility
for data centers with different thermal designs, and consists of redundant fans
and PSUs for higher availability.
The SX1016 is equipped with enhanced chassis management
capabilities supporting Web UI, industry-standard CLI, and is supported by
Mellanox Unified Fabric Manager (UFM), which provides extensive end-to-end
fabric orchestration and monitoring capabilities for virtualizing and scaling
out data centers.
Mellanox’s family of 10 and 40GbE switches, combined with
ConnectX-3 EN 10 and 40GbE NICs, management and acceleration software and
cables, provides end-users with best-of-breed, end-to-end Ethernet performance,
latency, efficiency, reliability and ease-of-use.
Mellanox recently announced
a beta lab bundle promotion for its 10 and 40 Gigabit Ethernet end-to-end
connectivity solutions.
The bundles, available through September 30, 2011,
feature one SX1035 10/40GbE Ethernet “Lite L2” switch, four
ConnectX-3 EN 10 or 40GbE PCIe 3.0 x8 adapter cards, four 3 meter passive
copper cables, a one year manufacturer’s warranty and Mellanox hardware and
software bring-up assistance support for a period of three months.
