OTE selects Huawei to upgrade broadband network in Greece

OTE Group has selected Huawei to upgrade fixed broadband network in Greece in a bid to enhance speed and customer experience.

OTE Group will be using Huawei’s SuperVector solution as part of the strategy to deliver up to 200 Mbit/s broadband services in the Mediterranean nation.

OTE Group, the largest telecom operator in Greece, provides fixed-line and mobile telephony, broadband Internet access, TV services and integrated ICT solutions under the COSMOTE brand.

OTE Group has made investments exceeding €2 billion over the past six years. The company will be making new investments worth another €2 billion till 2022. The focus of OTE Group is the installation of fiber optics networks across the country,

Huawei’s SuperVector solution for Fiber-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) network provides 384-line SuperVector access capabilities per board. The installation and interfaces of the SuperVector solution are compatible with DSL lines on the network. SuperVector boards are compatible with DSL terminals on the network.

“OTE Group invests intensively in new-generation networks and modern infrastructure as a prerequisite for the digital development of Greece,” George Tsonis, executive director Network Planning & Devops of OTE Group, said.

Chen Le, chief executive officer of Huawei Greece Rep. Office, said OTE Group chose Huawei’s broadband solution to upgrade the network, improving network capabilities as well as user experience.

PLDT, a leading telecom operator in the Philippines, has also selected Huawei for enhancing the broadband customer experience.
