Vivek Mohan quits Alcatel-Lucent

Vivek Mohan, president of Alcatel-Lucent’s services business, has stepped down. He is pursuing his interests outside Alcatel-Lucent.

Based in India, Vivek became the head of the services business in April, 2010. Vivek was a member of the company’s management committee.

The exit of Vivek is considered as a major setback for Alcatel-Lucent. Vivek focused on accelerating on business’ growth – bringing hands on experience in overseeing a world class team that has performed managed services and network maintenance for some of India’s service providers.

Vivek was responsible for finalizing the managed services deals with Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications.

Vivek was also the head of Alcatel-Lucent’s business in India. Vivek has more than 25 years of experience in managing businesses across a wide range of sectors and markets.

Alcatel-Lucent India is going through major changes. Recently, Arun Seth was appointed the chairman of Alcatel-Lucent India to regain the company’s lost glory in the country.

Alcatel-Lucent’s services business is a large and fast growing part of Alcatel-Lucent and plays a critical role in supporting the business transformation strategies of its customers. Its professional and managed services address the full life cycle of service provider and strategic industries’ networks and operations from business consulting, systems design and expertise in integrating complex end-to-end telecommunications systems to network migration, transformation, deployment, and maintenance.

Prior to his role as head of Alcatel-Lucent’s business in India, Vivek headed the Services organization for Alcatel-Lucent’s South Asia region. Before India, Vivek worked in a variety of roles and locations in Alcatel-Lucent. He led the Asia Pacific Supply Chain operations for Lucent Technologies from Shanghai and supported global business restructuring for Lucent’s Optical Networks Group (ONG) from Murray Hill, USA.

Before Alcatel-Lucent, Vivek founded and managed 2 start ups located in the US and India. Vivek received a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from California State University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
